We both slept really well, and got up slowly. It kept raining off and on, and there was still a few gusts, but today we were heading for the strange city of Basel, which is partly in Switzerland, partly in Germany and a bit of it in France. Very confusing, especially trying to decide which money to take.
It only took 20 mins to arrive there, even driving past a border crossing, where the lorries were queing for about a mile. I had looked at parking the day before, and was concerned that it would not be easy. I was right. We drove along the side of the Rhine, hoping to find a space with a parking meter; but with no luck. So we had to go into a multi storey, but we fitted, and it was very nice, and close to where we wanted to be.
After a brief stop for food, we walked over the Rhine into the old part of the city, towards the Munster. Around the cathedral there was a Christmas fair, in their little wooden chalets, with christmas lights hanging in the trees, it all looked very festive.
We walked back along the main road past the big shops, the main square and city hall, then back across the bridge and back to the car park.
Home in time to get some coins from the office, which we then used to do a clothes wash.
